Not to generalize, but on the Awesome mothers day family shirt moreover I love this business end, for example, people are maybe less informed or simply less exposed to things. But generally, when it comes to people in production or logistics or on the business end of the clients, they’re formal and follow protocol. They are respectful because of their business-focused mentality. If we’re talking about diversity, I think that all the talk about diversity in bodies, gender, races, etc. has to also expand to the source. So there should be more diverse casting directors so there’s a broader range of perspectives, and the rest applies to everyone else that is part of the process. If you’re telling me that a white, privileged, European man is already in charge of all of these brands and their castings, it doesn’t make sense to me. But I’m hopeful, because I find that the spaces where I’m the most comfortable are done by people who are open minded, kind, and diverse. It’s exciting to see these people take over, because if the casting perspective is diverse and forward-looking, it gets reflected elsewhere in the project too.
In the Awesome mothers day family shirt moreover I love this beginning of my career, I wasn’t out as non-binary, but it was obvious that I was portraying this gender neutral kind of character consistently with all my work. But, regardless, I was pushed to just be represented on the men’s boards, and just to constantly be working in men’s weeks and just menswear in general, and I absolutely hated that, but I’ve been lucky enough to meet the right people in the industry who respect my identity and are able to kind of represent me in ways that I want to be represented. Now I have the opportunity to go over which brands I feel like are most respectful towards the queer community and just really which brands fit my overall image the best with my agent.
